The Heart of Your Community $4.6 Million Capital Campaign
Heart attack is the number one killer of both men and women in Indiana. Comprehensive heart and vascular care is the number one goal of this capital campaign.
Riverview Hospital is the leader in heart and vascular care, not just in Hamilton County, but in the Indianapolis metro area. Our quality statistics are second to none. The upgrade to one of our cath labs and the addition of a multi slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner will take us to the next level.
Cardiologists are saying: "Time is Muscle." When chest pain strikes, time of of the essence. Funding the equipment purchases to complete this enhancement of services is critical to saving lives - perhaps your own life or the life of one you love. To continue to offer the top level of care and meet the growing needs in our community, we need our community's support to raise $4.6 million to invest in the following:
Multi Slice CT Scanner
The heart is a moving, beating organ. Arteries can appear blurry on standard CT images. The earliest signs of disease are often very tiny changes in vessel walls and linings. The multi slice CT is helping to overcome these and other issues, ensuring the most accurate diagnosis.
The ultra-fast multi slice CT scanner is timed to the patient’s heartbeat. This means that physicians can immediately see images of the heart and vessels without blurring. From these images, 3-D views of the heart and coronary arteries help physicians see not only the narrowing blood vessels, but even earlier development of heart disease.
The multi slice CT offers a non-invasive way to see coronary arteries that may otherwise have required a cardiac catheterization. The new CT will be located in the Radiology Department, immediately adjacent to the Emergency Center, site of Hamilton County’s first accredited Chest Pain Center.
What does full service mean to you? It can mean the difference between diagnosing and treating heart disease in a matter of minutes versus enduring a transfer to another facility that may take hours. Cardiac care at Riverview Hospital is geared toward providing the best care as quickly as humanly possible.
Cath Lab
Riverview Hospital has been performing cardiac catheterizations since 1989. In that time, technology and treatment standards have advanced, offering opportunity to improve the lives of countless individuals suffering from heart disease.
In 2002, Riverview began performing open heart surgeries and opened a second cath lab, offering additional capacity for this growing and necessary service. Now, as need continues to grow, our original cath lab equipment must be replaced.
The chosen cath lab equipment is the only product to offer direct capture technology. What does this mean? Consider the difference of a starry night viewed from the city versus the country. Riverview Hospital will be the only hospital in the Indianapolis metro area offering cardiac catheterization with direct capture technology. Additional benefits to patients include lower radiation exposure during procedures and sharper, clearer images for the cardiologist.
How big is your heart?
Goal: $4.6 million
- $2.8 million for a new cardiac catheterization lab
- $1.8 million for a 64 slice CT scanner
The clock is ticking. Time is muscle. Your help is needed. Riverview Hospital is your hospital, caring for your community, your family and your future.
