Get Directions“In treating patients, I believe taking the time to listen and understand is most critical. While it is certainly important to correctly diagnose the cause of bone or joint pain, it is equally important to understand how this pain affects a patient's life and activities. This information allows us to discuss treatment options and tailor our shared treatment decisions based on specific goals. I always consider nonsurgical as well as surgical options. Treatment without surgery is often possible, and I will make every effort to treat conditions in the least invasive, most effective manner. If surgery becomes necessary, I want my patients to feel well informed, comfortable with their decision, and satisfied with every step of the process. ”
Dr. Malin practices orthopedic surgery primarily because it allows him to have a positive impact on the lives of his patients. Growing up in rural Wisconsin, Dr. Malin always enjoyed working with his hands, and he takes pride in mastering the technical aspects of surgery. His initial positive exposure to the specialty was through the football team orthopedic surgeon at the United States Air Force Academy. While his family and he loved his time in the Air Force, they are very excited about settling down in the Noblesville area. Partnering with Riverview Health will allow him to provide outstanding, patient-centered care. The surrounding area offers tremendous infrastructure and strong Midwestern values, which he finds ideal for raising his three children.
Dr. Malin completed fellowship training in the treatment of hip and knee arthritis, including hip replacement, partial knee replacement, total knee replacement as well as revision hip and knee replacement. He also has extensive experience as an active duty military surgeon managing the full spectrum of orthopedic care, which includes sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement and fracture/trauma care.
In addition to completing prestigious academic and surgical training, he is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and had the privilege of serving his country as an active duty officer and orthopedic surgeon for nine years. This included two tours of duty in Afghanistan as part of the Air Force Special Operations Surgical Team. He enjoyed the opportunity to care for our nation's heroes both at home and abroad. Treating severe injuries in dangerous environments allowed him to hone his surgical skills in situations of tremendous stress. He believes this experience is a benefit to his current and future patients.
After completing time in the Air Force, he is very excited to settle in the Noblesville area. His wife and he have three children and a dog. When not at work, he spends most of his time with family. We really enjoy church activities, youth sports, scouting and community service. They can't wait to get to know our new neighbors and friends!
