Breast Revision

This is a 59-year-old female with a history of breast cancer. She previously underwent a bilateral mastectomy in 2020 without reconstruction. She came to our office in 2021 with hopes of addressing some concerns she had along her scar, including excess skin medially that rubbed on her prosthesis causing significant discomfort and some tightness in her left axilla. We helped her with this through a scar revision and Z-plasty of her left axilla. The patient is now able to wear a prosthesis when she wants without discomfort, and her arm range of motion has improved dramatically. She is a great example of someone who did not undergo full breast reconstruction, but still benefitted from the involvement of a plastic surgeon in her surgical care.
