Women’s Health Week is a national observance led by the Office on Women’s Health within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Celebrated each May beginning on Mother’s Day, this week, May 12th through May 18th, is dedicated to raising awareness about women’s health issues and encouraging women of all ages to make their health a priority.

Empowering Women Through Education and Care
This year, from May 12th through the 18th, the focus is on empowering and educating women about the steps they can take to improve their health and well-being. Many women experience health challenges related to pregnancy, chronic illness, musculoskeletal injuries, surgery, or unknown causes—and often suffer in silence, unaware of the specialized care available to them.

Let’s Start the Conversation
Many of the condition’s women face—like pelvic pain, postpartum recovery, or incontinence—are deeply personal. It’s common to feel isolated or even embarrassed. But here’s the truth: you are not alone, and you don’t have to suffer in silence.
At Riverview Health’s Pelvic Health Physical Therapy Program, we understand how difficult it can be to talk about these issues. That’s why our team is here to listen, support, and guide you—with compassion, expertise, and respect.
What if I feel embarrassed about my condition?
That’s completely normal. Many women feel the same way. But remember—our therapists are specially trained in treating pelvic floor conditions and have helped countless women just like you. Your therapist will work to make you feel comfortable and at ease during your evaluation and treatment.
And don’t worry—you don’t have to share everything on the first day. If you need time to build trust and get to know your therapist, that’s perfectly okay. We can start with simple measurements and move at your pace. The more open and honest you feel, the better we can help you reach your goals.
