A Clean Slate for a Healthy Workspace

Most employees spend 40 hours a week in their workspace—at a private desk, a shared station or perhaps traveling in a vehicle. Keeping this area clean is important to your health. It’s also a reflection of you and your company. Dedicating 10 minutes a week to clean this space might be just what’s needed to create a healthier atmosphere.

Consider making the following things a routine to enhance your workspace and well-being:

  • Detox—Wipe out junk food.
  • Replenish—Stock items that nourish the body.
  • Deep clean—Sanitize the refrigerator, freezer, microwave, door handles, phones and chairs.
  • Beautify—Bring in items such as live plants or decorative containers to hold common items like pens.
  • Declutter—Remove old papers, magazines and other clutter.
  • Reorganize—Create up-to-date phone lists and important departmental information.
  • Request the best—Set nutritional expectations as a group for potlucks, catered lunches and celebrations.
  • Safety—Always use safety guidelines and ask for help when needed.
