Every holiday party is sure to have celebration, conversation, and yes, a lot of food. The food that’s served isn’t always the healthiest choice either, and for those who are being mindful of their overall diet, they may find holiday parties quite stressful, confusing and a little tricky.
The first thing to remember is that holiday parties come only once a year, so it’s okay to treat yourself to those special food items. If you’re watching your calorie intake, don’t feast on foods you can get any time of the year such as chips, rolls and store-bought desserts. Instead, treat yourself with foods you can get only during these special times.
For example, some potato chips may be on the table, but you know you can get these chips any time of the year, making them not as special. But, your great-aunt’s pumpkin pie and homemade ice cream are things you get only at your family’s Christmas dinner. Enjoy the pie and save your calories by not eating the chips. Eating only special treats at parties can help eliminate wasted calories and also help you enjoy your holiday parties without missing out on the special items.
