Patients who have recently received transfusions have normal donor cells that may mask G-6-PD deficient erythrocytes.
EDTA or ACD Whole Blood
Lavender EDTA tube or Yellow ACD Solution A tube
3 mL (minimum 1.5 mL)
Do not freeze. Transport 3 mL whole blood in original collection tube. (Min: 1.5 mL). Refrigerate.
Preferred initial screening test for G6PD deficiency.
